Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult
The Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult was established in 2012 as a centre for excellence to bridge the gap between scientific research and full scale commercialisation, and to accelerate the growth of the industry in the UK. Cells have been used to successfully treat patients for many years, for instance in bone marrow transplants. However, significant advances with stem cells and with other cells mean that new treatments can be devised with the potential to repair, replace, modify, or regenerate cell tissue to help cure diseases and conditions as diverse as blindness, diabetes and cancer.
