Application-specific Membrane Prefilters for Highly Efficient Processes in Biopharmaceutical Production

Sponsored

New medicines and diagnostics on the one hand and rising cost pressure as a result, for example, of the launch of generics and biosimilars on the other mean that new, highly efficient methods are required in biopharmaceutical production. In order to meet these challenges, Sartorius Stedim Biotech has developed membrane filters for prefiltration. In particular, the new Sartoguard generation of prefilters makes it possible to optimize existing prefiltration processes for upstream and downstream areas, but also to efficiently develop completely new production processes.

Locus Biosciences, Inc.

Locus Biosciences’ novel approach to precision antimicrobials works by taking advantage of a part of an immune system present in many bacteria called the CRISPR-Cas system. The CRISPR-Cas system protects bacteria from invaders such as viruses by creating small strands of RNA called CRISPR RNAs, which match DNA sequences specific to a given invader. When the CRISPR RNAs find a match, they activate Cas proteins that cut the DNA.
